Step 1: Measuring Your Window's Recess Depth

Before measuring your window, check the recess depth to ensure there's enough space for the kovaniya. The minimum required depth is 3 cm. To measure, start at the front edge of the recess (farthest from the window) and measure to the shallowest point.

Watch for Obstructions

Common obstructions within your recess space include:

Window handles
Latches
Locks
Winders or cranks

Measuring with Obstructions

Even with a deep recess, obstructions can block proper installation. To check clearance:

Measure the recess depth from the front of the recess to the window.
Measure the obstruction depth from the window to the front of the obstruction.
Subtract the obstruction depth from the recess depth to find the unobstructed space.

Important: You need at least 3 cm of unobstructed recess space to install the Kovaniya securely.

Step 2: Measuring the Width

Since windows are often not perfectly square, you need to measure the width in three different places to account for any unevenness:

Top of the window recess
Middle of the window recess
Bottom of the window recess

Record the smallest of these three measurements. This ensures your kovaniya fits the narrowest point of your window.

Step 3: Measuring the Height

Next, measure the height of your window recess. Once again take measurements from three locations:

Top of the window recess
Middle of the window recess
Bottom of the window recess

Just like with the width, record the smallest of these three measurements.

Avoid Common Measuring Mistakes

To get the most accurate measurements, avoid these common errors:

Measuring at an angle: Always hold the tape measure straight and level.
Bending the tape measure: Keep the tape straight to ensure accurate measurements.
Rounding incorrectly: Round to the nearest tenth of a centimeter if needed.

Installing your Kovaniya is quick and straightforward and takes just 5 minutes. No tools are needed for the installation.

Step 1: Lay Out The Frames

Unpack the side frames and place them on a clean, flat surface, parallel to each other with their inner channels facing inward for assembly.

Step 2: Position the Top and Bottom Frames

Place the top and bottom frames parallel to each other, and verify that the numbered labels on the adjoining ends match.

Step 3: Connect the Frames

Connect all of the frames together by connecting the fabric and the side frame with the upper and lower frames.

Step 4: Tighten the Cords

Proceed with this step only if your blinds do not latch properly. Using the included screwdriver, tighten the two side-frame screws to tension the internal cords.

Step 5: Insert the Corner Caps

Press-fit the 8 included corner caps onto all frame corners - 4 on the front side, 4 on the back side.

Step 6: Peel back the brush strip backing

Peel off a small part of the protective backing from the brush strip.

Step 7: Apply the brush strip

Press the brush strip down as close to the back side of the frame as possible, leaving free space above it for the weather strip.

Step 8: Split the weather strip

Split the provided weather strip into two equal parts.

Step 9: Peel back the weather strip backing

Peel a small length of the protective backing off one end of the weather strip to begin. You'll peel away the rest as you go.

Step 10: Apply the Weather Strip

Apply the weather strip directly above the brush strip. Continue peeling the backing as you go.

Step 11: Insert and Test Kovaniya

Place the blinds inside of your window recess. Test the blinds by opening and closing them.

The interior of the total blackout blinds matches your fabric choice, while the exterior is always Quartz to reflect light. For example, if you select Graphite, the interior side will be Graphite, but the exterior will remain Quartz. This design ensures a uniform appearance from the outside and is intended to reflect light.
